FAQs
Choosing the right stylist comes down to availability, price point, and what you’re looking for in your hair. Each of our stylists has their own experience, strengths, and approach, so we encourage you to explore our Meet Us page to learn more about each team member.
You can choose your stylist based on the services they offer, their pricing, their availability, and the type of experience or result you’re hoping to achieve.
If you’re unsure who would be the best fit, you’re always welcome to reach out to us or the stylist directly. We’re happy to help guide you toward the stylist who best matches your hair needs and goals.
We are just getting to know your hair and the first time takes longer than follow-up appointments. We also include a clarifying and deep conditioning treatment to give your curls a spa day and get them on the right track. You can opt to have this done at every appointment for an additional fee.
Another reason is we provide every new guest a lesson on how to wash, condition, apply products and style your hair. We also go over how to care for your hair on a regular basis. We have a lot of knowledge to share with you and want to help you find a routine that works best for you. Our goal is to provide you with the knowledge needed for the best results. It is more than a haircut, it’s an experience!
A clarifying shampoo is formulated to remove buildup or residue on your hair and /or scalp. We have built the clarifying treatment into the first appointment because we have found that most guests need this in order for us to provide the best results. If there is silicone based product or oil build-up, we can not properly moisturize your hair. Clarifying is an essential part of your first visit and good to incorporate in your routine.

Anyone scheduled to have a curly cut at Curl, needs to come in with their hair freshly washed, curly-products in it, down and completely dry, encouraging the natural texture. We need you to style your hair either the night before or morning of your appointment, depending on whether the appointment is in the morning or evening. Do not tuck, clip, barret, pull up or put a hat on after it is styled. If you let it air dry and doubt it'll be dry in time for the scheduled appointment, please arrive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment time, to sit under the hooded dryer. Please let us know if you need to do this if your appointment is in the morning since we may not be there. Please call us if you have any questions!
Curly hair requires a different approach than a traditional haircut because the stylist is working with the hair’s natural curl pattern, density, texture, and movement.
Curly cuts typically take more time, precision, and product than a traditional wet cut. The hair is shaped with the curl pattern in mind, allowing the stylist to create a balanced shape that grows out more gracefully and maintains its form longer with proper home care. Cutting curly hair dry also allows the stylist to see how each curl naturally falls and behaves, resulting in a more predictable and personalized shape.
The haircut may increase in price when additional time, product, or work is required, including:
- It has been more than a year since your last professional haircut: Reshaping hair that has not been professionally maintained can require additional time.
- Extreme matting or tangling: Significant tangling can require extra time beyond the allotted 1.5 hours.
- Extremely thick and/or long hair: Additional product and/or time may be needed to properly cleanse, detangle, cut, and style the hair.
We require a $75 deposit to reserve your first appointment that is due at the time of booking your appointment. The amount of time allotted to our first appointments is greater than follow-up appointments. The first appointment can take anywhere from two to three hours, depending on the hair density, condition and needs of the guest.
If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please give us at least 72 (salon business) hours’ notice from your scheduled appointment time. If the appointment is canceled with less than 72 hours of notice, we require full payment of the service canceled. All messages regarding cancellations and rescheduling must be done during salon business hours, Tuesday through Saturday. All messages related to rescheduling and or canceling must be sent directly via voicemail or email, to the stylist you are scheduled with.
Additionally, any guests who are scheduled with multiple services in one day, ( ie. Color and haircut or haircut and conditioning treatment), who wish to modify their appointment, please notify the salon at least 72 hours from the scheduled appointment time. If less than 72 hours’ notice was given from the scheduled appointment time, and the modified appointment takes less time, than the original services scheduled, it is treated the same as a cancellation for that service that was cancelled. For example, if you are scheduled with a highlight, base color and haircut, then change it to only a haircut, without giving us 72 hours’ notice, we will ask for a fee equivalent to the service canceled.
We can refund any unused product within four weeks from the day it's purchased.
An appointment at our salon is a unique experience for your curls. We really work with our guests one-on one with their curls and provide a lot of information about curly hair in general. We do a very thorough consultation to start, listen to our guests needs and do an evaluation on the existing haircut and/or color. We provide a lesson on how to care for your curls at home and explain everything we are doing along the way!
Unlike an in-and-out haircut appointment, we take the time to really get to know your hair and get you on the right track.
For those reasons we ask that you only schedule a consultation if your hair needs major correction in any way. At this time we are doing all consultations virtually. Please call the salon with any questions about consultations!
Absolutely! While Curl Hair & Wellness is best known for our specialized curly haircuts, we understand that a wet haircut may be the best option for certain clients and hair types.
Our curly haircuts are designed to work with your natural curl pattern and create a shape that enhances how your curls naturally fall. However, we will absolutely perform a wet haircut when the circumstances are ideal—such as when the hair is consistently worn straight, the desired style is better suited to a traditional wet cut, or your curl pattern and hair goals make a wet cut the appropriate choice.
If you’re unsure which haircut is right for you, don’t worry! We’ll evaluate your hair, curl pattern, lifestyle, and desired result and recommend the technique that will give you the best outcome.
Yes, and all curly cuts blow out beautifully! The curly cuts we offer, can be done on any texture, not just curly or super curly. We recommend that you give your hair a rest from the heat and tension for 6 months after your cut. We understand that the commitment to not blowing your hair out straight may be unrealistic. Please note that the curly cuts work better when not flat-ironed, but blown out loose and smooth!
- Does your hair respond to humidity?
- Are you tired of your hair being frizzy?
- Are you afraid of someone cutting "layers" into your hair?
- Are you afraid of getting haircuts?
- Has it been as least 6 months to 1 year since your last haircut?
- Does your hair have a triangular shape?
If you answered yes to any of those questions, make an appointment ASAP! We've got you covered.
At this time, we do not have a receptionist, so the easiest and most efficient way to schedule an appointment is through our online booking system.
You may also contact your preferred stylist directly by email. Each stylist’s email address is listed next to their name on our Meet Us page.
We encourage you to book online whenever possible for the quickest response and to view current availability.
A curly cut is a haircut specifically designed around the natural curl pattern, texture, density, and movement of curly or wavy hair rather than treating it like straight hair.
A good curly cut typically involves:
- Cutting with the curl pattern in mind so the curls fall naturally into shape.
- Considering shrinkage, since curly hair can look significantly shorter when dry than when wet.
- Creating shape and balance so the hair has movement without unwanted bulk or a triangular shape.
- Removing weight strategically rather than simply thinning the hair.
- Working with the client’s individual curl pattern, which may vary throughout the head.
- Often cutting the hair dry or partially dry, allowing the stylist to see where each curl naturally lives.
- Styling and educating the client on how to maintain and recreate the shape at home.
In simple terms: a curly cut isn’t just a regular haircut on curly hair. It’s a haircut where the curl itself is the blueprint for the shape.
